Advancing Justice | AAJC Welcomes New Assistant Director of Immigration and Immigrants’ Rights

WASHINGTON, DC – Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC announces that Megan Horn Essaheb has joined the organization as the new Assistant Director of Immigration and Immigrants’ Rights. Essaheb will help lead the program which works to achieve fair and just immigration reform that protects family unity, provides a path to citizenship, and prevents discrimination in enforcement, as well as supporting programs that assist the newest Americans as they integrate into American society.   

“Megan Horn Essaheb is a passionate advocate for immigration reform and has extensive experience working for organizations centered on immigration advocacy,” said Mee Moua, president and executive director of Advancing Justice | AAJC. “We are delighted to welcome Megan and to put her extensive experience with immigration issues and labor laws to work as Advancing Justice | AAJC continues to fight for the civil rights of immigrants.”

Essaheb comes to Advancing Justice | AAJC with more than a decade of professional experience. She most recently served as assistant director of immigration and labor rights at Farmworker Justice where she developed her strong skills in coalition building – working to empower immigrants and their organizations to affect policy change. Essaheb has also served as a teacher in Teach For America and as an advocate for migrants’ rights with Center de los Derechos del Migrante, Inc. 

With the addition of Essaheb, Advancing Justice | AAJC will expand its capacity to educate and advocate for immigrant’s rights and fair and just immigration reform.
