Livia Luan is the Programs Associate and Executive Assistant at Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC. In this role, she supports the policy and advocacy work of the organization by monitoring and analyzing immigration policy. In addition, Livia conducts research and develops written materials for the telecommunications, technology, and media program on rapidly evolving issues such as digital privacy, digital equity, and facial recognition technology. She also provides high-level support to the Executive Director.
Prior to joining Advancing Justice | AAJC, Livia developed her passion for policy research and communications through interning for the Progressive Policy Institute and the Georgetown Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership. She deepened her understanding of immigration policy, in particular, during her internship at the Migration Policy Institute, where she published an article on the American private prison industry’s investment in immigration detention.
Livia received her B.A. in Government and minor in Economics from Georgetown University in 2018.
