Celebrating 25 Years

This year's American Courage Awards reception featured Advancing Justice | AAJC's 25th Anniversary Celebration on October 6, 2016 in Washington, D.C. We welcome your continued support in the fight to advance civil and human rights.

The American Courage Award goes to an individual, company or organization that has shown extraordinary courage or commitment to the cause of civil rights. This may include a corporate leader who has taken an important stand, an activist who overcame extraordinary challenges, an artist with a unique vision, or a journalist breaking an important story. This year, Vanita Gupta, principal deputy assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, was honored with the American Courage Award.

The Changemaker Award honors an individual, company or organization who is a catalyst for change, and was presented to Jimmy Ferguson, owner and operator of multiple McDonald's franchises and former Asian McDonald’s Operators Association.

This year we recognized the Walt Disney Company with the Bridge Builder Award, which acknowledges an individual, company or organization in recognition of its exceptional efforts to encourage community empowerment and diversity.
