WASHINGTON, D.C. – Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC applauds Senator Hirono (D- Hawaii) for her introduction of the Filipino Veterans Family Reunification Act with Representative Colleen Hanabusa (D-Hawaii).

Filipino World War II veterans fought alongside Americans servicemen and have waited decades to be reunited with their loved ones. This bill will expedite the visa process for children of those veterans.

John C. Yang, president and executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC, issued the following statement:

“Filipino World War II veterans have been separated from their families for far too long. We are in full support of the Filipino Veterans Family Reunification Act, which honors our country’s promise to reunite veterans with their families. Such a bill, which advances initiatives of today while rectifying missteps of the past, is why we are excited for Senator Hirono’s return. We wish her well as she continues her recovery, as well as her unrelenting fight for our community.”
