In partnership with the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) and the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC), Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC coordinated a rally and press event in front of the White House today with our national Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) partners in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

John C. Yang, president and executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC issued the following statement:

“Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC is proud to stand with numerous Members of Congress, NCAPA, NAKASEC, and all of our AAPI partners, as we speak out against threats to the DACA program and the 800,000 DACA recipients who call America home. It is morally unconscionable for our government to threaten to strip these young men and women of the protections DACA has provided, after our government had asked these young people to come out of the shadows and trust the government to protect them. Ending DACA would be a failure of moral leadership. With this threat, it is incumbent upon Congress to lead and enact a permanent legislative solution that would once and for all protect our DREAMers and place them on a pathway to citizenship. We are committed to fight for DREAMers and immigrants. We call on the administration to keep its promise to DREAMers, and we call on Congress to act now.”
