AAPI Letter to MLB Commission in Response to Yulieski Gurriel

During game three of the 2017 World Series, Houston Astros’ player Yulieski Gurriel made a racist gesture and slur towards Japanese-born Yu Darvish, a Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitcher. Advancing Justice | AAJC joined other Asian American civil rights groups to condemn such racist behavior and demanded that Major League Baseball affirmatively reach out to the Asian American community to acknowledge this deplorable act and work towards educating the MLB and other franchises on the issues of racial sensitivity as applied to Asians and Asian Americans.
